18th Century Studies and Studies of Enlightenment

Francis Bacon: Novum organum. London 1620, title page.

My research on the 18th century has its starting point in Kant’s philosophy. The focus is on the question of the sources of his theoretical philosophy, such as the theory of apperception, the concept of space and time, the regulative use of reason, etc. However, I also try to reconstruct and present the century in its thematic breadth. In particular, special emphasis is placed on studies of the Enlightenment. In various works, I ask myself whether, and if so, how, the Enlightenment can be understood as an epoch-spanning project.
